RU Cold Weather Advisory
January in Colorado: Bundle Up!
Welcome to winter at RU! As temperatures drop and snow falls, here’s what you need to know to stay safe and cozy:
What to Expect:
What to Expect: Campus heating systems work hard, but extreme cold and high winds may make some areas feel cooler—especially north-facing rooms. Dress warmly, even indoors!
Reporting Issues:
• Report leaks or sewer problems (potential frozen pipes) to your on-call CDA immediately.
• Life safety and major facility issues are top priority; general cold complaints will be addressed as soon as possible.
Safety Reminders:
• No personal space heaters—they’re a fire risk. Use only Physical Plant-approved ones.
• Walk carefully on icy sidewalks and parking lots. Wear sturdy footwear.
• Prep your vehicle for cold: check your battery, fluids, and carry emergency supplies.
Stay Warm Tips
• Dress in layers.
• Protect skin from freezing temps.
• Be alert on icy roads and walkways.
Stay Warm!
With care,
